Hayley specialised in molecular biology and immunology at Melbourne University, with Honours in molecular microbiology. She then spent 5 years in research for a new vaccine to protect chickens from a virus that has similar effects as HIV/AIDS. Hayley then moved into full time secondary teaching in the areas of VCE Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science. Her roles within secondary schools have included year level coordinator and curriculum coordinator. Hayley has also undertaken a number of roles for the VCAA, including assessing, auditing and roll-out of the new VCE Chemistry Study Design 2008-2011. Her role as assessor commenced in 2002 and continues today. She has recently presented sessions at the STAV Chemistry Conference 2009 to support teachers new to teaching Units 3 and 4 VCE Chemistry.
